Background:

I’ve been toying with the idea of writing for a while.  This blog is a very, very small step in that direction.  Here’s the plan:

Open up my blog to a wider audience.

  • Benefit for your honest advice and criticism (if a story sucks, please tell me why).
  • Build enough quality work to gain entrance it into a Master of Fine Arts program for creative writing.
  • Complete the degree and maybe get published in a few journals.
  • Retire from this career at sixty five to a small pittance (I believe in Social Security…our leaders know what’s best for us!)
  • Start living the writer’s life:  unstable income; spam hash for dinner; and a constant barrage of rejection.

So now comes the harder step.  Throwing the thing open to a wider audience and hoping it sticks.  Please help me by leaving your comments and feedback.  And if you like a story, please tell your friends and send them the link.  Links into a blog are its lifeblood.

This is definitely a work in progress. I will return to various essays from time to time and continue to polish them.  So thanks in advance for your feedback

Here are a few final words of caution.  I use frank and often vivid language—it isn’t pornographic, but it is about real life, and most real people I know drop the f-word now and then.

Subject Guidelines:

  • This blog will be about damn near anything.
  • The language will not stop at PG13.
  •  Politics will tend to run liberal/libertarian on social issues to moderate on economic issues.
  • The post will be longer—more essay than blog.
  • Comments are moderated.
